Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 — A Bardstown Police officer was injured Monday afternoon in a accident at the intersection of Bloomfield Road and East John Rowan Blvd.

At 2 p.m., Nelson County EMS, the Bardstown Fire Department and Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported two-vehicle accident involving Bardstown Police Sgt. Tom Blair.

According to a sheriff’s office press release, Blair had spotted a vehicle earlier reported driving recklessly in the area, and observed the vehicle turn onto Bloomfield Road. Blair was sitting on East John Rowan and activated his lights and siren to pursue the vehicle.

While trying to navigate the intersection with lights and siren activated, Blair’s cruiser was struck by a vehicle heading west on John Rowan driven by Cameron Parrish, 20. Blair’s vehicle was struck on the passenger’s side, causing the cruiser to spin. Parrish told police he didn’t see Blair’s vehicle while going through the intersection. EMS treated Blair at the scene and he was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital for a possible hand injury. Parrish refused treatment by EMS.
